Top Horses List: Week 4 (Classic Only)

Jim Dandy and Haskell are done, now it's time for the next Classic list! Just a note we are now up to 9 horses and this will be the last time that the Distaff and Classic will be in separate posts. So here are the Royal 9!

Rank Name of Horse (Sire) Trainer Profile
1 Palace Malice (Curlin) Pletcher The Suburban really didn't show much. Although Moreno who had been a thorn in Will Take Charge's side last year actually showed up in that race to finish second.
2 California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) Sherman After Tonalist's Jim Dandy loss, he returns to the top spot for 3yo's. Also after Untapable's Haskell loss, he is the best 3yo of either sex at the moment.
3 Tonalist (Tapit) Clement Took a step back after a loss in the Jim Dandy. The reason why I am not putting him below Wicked Strong is based on the fact that a mile and quarter shouldn't be a problem for him, where as the JD winner might have a small question mark. That being said, to my eyes he looked to be spinning his wheels a bit on the Saratoga surface. He'll have to show up in the Travers for me to put him above the Derby winner again.
4 Shared Belief (Candy Ride (ARG)) Hollendorfer His ranking may seem low, but there is a reason for my madness. Yes he passed the dirt question mark with ease, but he has yet to face both Tonalist and California Chrome. Then again, if he wins the Classic then we could see a Wise Dan situation where he backs his way in into a Championship. However, I feel that in order for him to do that he needs to win out the rest of the way. The mile and quarter question mark will be answered in his next race.
5 Wicked Strong (Hard Spun) Jerkens The addition of blinkers was a major part of his Jim Dandy victory. While he has yet to hit the top three at the mile and a quarter distance, he is a horse to be serious horse to keep an eye on the rest of the day.
6 Moonshine Mullin (Albert the Great) Morse Been working at Churchill. Plans where to go to Saratoga, but they must have changed.
7 Majestic Harbor (Rockport Harbor) McCarthy He'll be facing Shared Belief in the Pacific Classic. Not sure synthetic is his strong point though, so I'm hoping that the distance will be his advantage.
8 Clubhouse Ride (Candy Ride (ARG)) Sadler Gold Cup runner up who could be a serious contender for the Pacific Classic.
9 Will Take Charge (Unbridled's Song) Lukas Will be taking on fellow 13 TC alum Palace Malice in the Whitney. Not sure how well he will run, but should be a fun race.

Also Considered: Bayern (Offlee Wild), Zivo (True Direction), Albano (Istan), Irish You Well (Broken Vow), Kid Cruz (Lemon Drop Kid)
