Turf Sprint recap

Ken & Sarah Ramsey's homebred Bobby's Kitten (Kitten's Joy) avenged his Juvenile Turf 3rd place finish to win the Turf Sprint. No Nay Never (Scat Daddy) was second and Undrafted (Purim) was third. Joel Rosario rode the winner for Chad Brown. The winner is named after the late great Bobby Frankel (who Chad worked for as an assistant).

Bobby is out of the mare Celestial Woods (Forestry). His record is 11 starts with 5 wins, 1 second and 3 thirds with earnings of $1,264,916.

Dimension (Mediciean (GB)): Won the KY Turf Dash and 3rd in the Play the King. 5th in last year's Woodbine Mile.

Caspar Netscher (Dutch Art (GB)): Won the Nearctic and 5th in the Bengough. 10th in last year's Queen Elizabeth II.

No Nay Never (Scat Daddy): Won the Woodford and 2nd in the Swale. Picked up two group stakes in Europe last year after breaking his maiden at Keeneland.

Ageless (Successful Appeal): 2nd in the Franklin County and 3rd in the Masters. 3 win race streak was snapped 2 back.

Za Approval (Ghostzapper): Won the Real Courage and was 5th in the Nijinsky. 2nd in last year's Mile.

Nunthorpe Recap

The only Group 1 that is open to 2yo's+ was run today at York. The Nunthorpe which is run at 5 furlongs is a WAYI for the Turf Sprint. The winner was Mrs. S. Power's great sprinter Sole Power (GB) (Kyllachy (GB)). Stepper Point (GB) (Kyllachy (GB)) was second and Extortionist (IRE) (Dandy Man (IRE)) was third. Richard Hughes rode and Eddie Lynam trains, Sole Power was coming off a win at Royal Ascot in the King's Stand.

Bred by G Russell, he is out of the mare Demerger (Distant View), and has a record of 42 starts with 10 wins, 7 seconds and 6 thirds with earnings of about $2,528,479.58 US.

Race Recap: Bing Crosby

It really is California's year as another Cal bred won a G1. This time it was Tom Mansor & Tachycardia Stable's Big Macher (Beau Genius) winning the Bing Crosby. Coming off a win in the Potrero Grande, he held off Goldencents (Into Mischief) and Seeking the Sherif (Officer). Trained by Richard Baltas, Big Macher was ridden to victory by Tyler Baze.

Bred by Ballena Vista Farm, he is out of the mare Insight (Kris S.). His record is 11 starts with 5 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds with earnings of $496,428.

Race Preview: Bing Crosby

Del Mar's Breeders' Cup schedule gets underway on Sunday with a WAYI for the Turf Sprint. Here is the field for this year's Bing Crosby.

Goldencents (Into Mischief): 2nd in the Met Mile in his last. Better on dirt, but he was second in this race last year.

Declassify (Orientate): Won the Triple Bend in his last. Lone start on synth was a win (at Hollywood last year).

Pablo Del Monte (Giant's Causeway): 6th in the Preakness and 3rd in the Bluegrass before that. Dam set a world record for 5 furlongs at Keeneland, but ran only okay after that.

Seeking the Sherif (Officer): Stakes debut, has been running in Allowance/Optional Claiming after being claimed in December. Has only lost once for his new connections.

Big Macher (Beau Genius): Won the Potrero Grande in April and hasn't run since than. Best finish at Del Mar has been 3rd.

Kobe's Back (Flatter): Winless since his San Vincete win in February this year. Best finish has been 3rd against the inconsistent Coup de Grace.

Wine Police (Speightstown): 8th in Allowance/Optional Claimer in his last after finishing 5th in the Triple Bend. Last win was in September at Remington.
