Ballerina Stakes Preview

Even though the Travers is on Saturday, there is a WAYI with a spot in the Filly and Mare Sprint up for grabs. Lets take a look at this year's field for the Ballerina.

Artemis Agrotera (Roman Ruler): Won an allowance after finishing 8th in the Acorn. Won the Fritzette last year and is 2 for 2 at Saratoga.

Better Lucky (Ghostzapper): Won the Shine Again and 8th in the Just a Game. Her Saratoga starts (including her runner up in finish in the Lake George) where on turf.

Kipling's Joy (Kipling): 2nd in the Pasaena and won an Allowance/Optional Claimer. Lone other graded stakes try was 6th in the Sabin and has already has 9 starts this year.

My Miss Aurelia (Smart Strike): 3rd in the Shine Again and 2013 Azeri. 2Yo Champion Female who was runner up in the 2012 Ladies Classic.

Willet (Jump Start): Won an Allowance and 2nd in the Dancin Renee. 4th in last year's Go for Wand and 2nd in the 2012 Union Avenue at Saratoga.

La Verdad (Yes It's True): Winner of the Dancin Renee followed that up with a 5th place finish in the Honorable Miss. Won the Distaff and was 2nd in the Barbara Fritchie earlier this year as well.

Voodoo Tales (Tale of the Cat): Won an Allowance and Starter Allowance in her last two races. This is her stakes debut.

Hot Stones (Bustin Stones): 3rd in the Shuvee and won the Bed o'Roses. Both of those races while not her first try in open company, her lone other stakes start was for NYB's.

Geeky Gorgeous (Devil His Due): Defended her Regret title and 3rd in the Red Cross. All, but two of her starts have been at Monmouth, so this is her Saratoga debut.
