The Whitney Handicap was a gate to wire performance by Southern Equine Stable's Moreno (Ghostzapper). The 2013 Travers runner up was really never threatened, as Itsmyluckyday (Lawyer Ron) was second and Will Take Charge (Unbridled's Song) finished in third. Palace Malice (Curlin) was never in the race and finished off the board. Ridden by Junior Alvarado, he is trained by Eric Guillot.
Bred by his owner, Moreno is out of the mare Danceinthesunlight (A.P. Indy). He now has a record of 20 starts with 3 wins, 6 seconds and 3 thirds with earnings of $1,709,940.
