Met Mile preview

The biggest race on the day outside of the Belmont Stakes is the Metropolitan Handicap. Here is the field for this year's Met Mile which of course is a WAYI for the Dirt Mile.

Private Zone (Macho Uno): Won the Churchill Downs Handicap and 2nd in the Gulfstream Park Handicap. Back to back winner of the Vosburgh.

Bay of Plenty (Medaglia d' Oro): won Allowance/Optional Claimer and 2nd in the Discovery. Undefeated at Belmont.

Noble Moon (Malibu Moon): 2nd in Allowance/Optional Claimer and 6th in the Cigar. Was a promising Derby horse last year.

Tonalist (Tapit): Won the Westchester and 5th in the Classic. 4 for 4 at Belmont including last years TC spoiling win in the Belmont.

Tamarkuz (Speightstown): Won the Godolphin Mile and Burj Nahaar both at Meydan. US debut.

Wicked Strong (Hard Spun): 3rd in the Excelsior and 4th in the Gulfstream Park Handicap. Last time at Belmont was involved in a spill in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Bayern (Offlee Wild): 6th in the Churchill Downs Handicap and won the Classic. Used the Woody Stephens as a springboard to his two G1 wins last year.

Pants on Fire (Jump Start): 3rd in the Churchill Downs Handicap and won the Sir Shackleton. 2nd in lone Belmont start.

Honor Code (A.P. Indy): 5th in the Alysheba and won the Gulfstream Park Handicap. 2nd in the Champagne at 2 at Belmont.

Kobe's Back (Flatter): Won the Commonwealth and 2nd in the San Carlos. Two NY stakes starts resulted in 2 top 4 finishes.
