Farewell Street Cry
2000 Juvenile 3rd place finisher Street Cry (IRE) (Machiavellian) passed away today due to neurological issues he was suffering from in Australia according to Darley America where he stood in the US.
He would go into the Juvenile off a runner up finish in the Norfolk. He would be defeated at Churchill by Macho Uno (Holy Bull) who of course would sire Mucho Macho Man last year's Classic winner and Point Given (Thunder Gulch) the next year's Horse of the Year.
His biggest win would be the Dubai World Cup and he also picked up a win in the Stephen Foster.
As a sire he has 3 BC race winners, 2 Juvenile winners New Year's Day and Street Sense. The latter becoming the first Juvenile winner to win the Kentucky Derby the next year. As well as a Distaff winner (during the time it was the Ladies Classic before reverting back to the original name last year) Zenyatta. In 2009, she became the only female to win the Classic and came up just short in her 2010 defense which was her lone loss of her career. That same year she garnered Horse of the Year honors after coming up short the two pervious years to Curlin (Smart Strike) and fellow super filly Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d' Oro).
